**Montale Orient Extreme** opens with a dry, spicy flash of saffron and citrus, like warm air drifting from the doorway of an eastern spice shop. After a few minutes the sharpness softens, and at the center a velvety rose appears with the earthy shadow of patchouli. Vetiver gives the composition a graphic, almost smoky vertical line, keeping the sweetness from turning heavy. On skin it wears dense and even: oud and sandalwood build a deep woody underlayer, while amber adds a soft, warm glow. Closer to the trail, a musky cleanliness and a fine vanilla powder emerge, without leaning gourmand. It suits evening hours, cooler air, and anyone who likes orientals with a dry, composed character.
