**Montale Intense Black Aoud** opens with a dark rose wrapped in a dry saffron accent and a brief citrus spark that quickly sinks inward. After a few minutes, the perfume grows denser: oud and patchouli move to the centre, shaded by a woody, smoky touch of incense. On skin it feels steady and composed, without abrupt turns, yet with a clear deepening through the first half hour. The sillage is pronounced at the start, then settles closer to the body while remaining readable for a long time. In the drydown, amber, musk, and a soft leather shadow round the composition, giving a velvety edge to the dry woods. It wears especially well in cool weather and in the evening, when its dark character opens with more calm and breadth. This is for anyone drawn to rose-oud perfumes with a dense, almost inky mood.
