Cardamom

Cardamom smells cool, aromatic, and finely spiced, with the snap of green pods, a hint of camphor, lemon peel, and dry wood. It feels crisp rather than hot, adding brightness and movement where cinnamon or clove would add weight. In fragrance it appears in spicy, woody, amber, fougère, and fresh oriental families, often at the top where it flashes clean and elegant before melting into tea, incense, or soft woods. Cardamom makes sweetness more refined and masculine structures more fluid. It is memorable in Yves Saint Laurent La Nuit de l’Homme, where cardamom gives the scent its polished seduction, and in Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle Noir Epices, where spice turns dark, dry, and sophisticated.
