Ambergris

Ambergris smells elusive and impossible to pin down: salty skin, sun-warmed wood, tobacco, sea air, sweet mineral warmth, and a clean animalic trace. In modern perfumery it is usually recreated through accords and aroma molecules, yet the effect remains unmistakable: diffusion, glow, and a lived-in sensuality. Ambergris appears in marine fragrances, ambery woods, musky skinscents, and many compositions that want radiance without obvious sweetness. It makes a perfume breathe, expanding around the wearer like heat off stone by the water. Its aura is central to the salty elegance of Creed Erolfa and the mineral sensuality often associated with Maison Francis Kurkdjian Aqua Universalis Forte.
