Meliora — berries in green shade
Not a dessert and not a bouquet: here, sweetness stays close to the coolness of a leaf and the purity of musk.
Meliora by Parfums de Marly begins at the moment when the berries are still cool from the morning air. Blackcurrant here does not sound like thick jam, but like tart skin and green leaf, which immediately gives the fragrance firmness. Beside it are red berries and raspberry, softer and lighter, yet without sticky sweetness. Orange blossom adds a fine white light, as if a window had been opened slightly in the room.
At the heart, the fragrance becomes more even and quieter. The rose does not turn powdery and does not pull attention toward itself: it simply rounds out the berry opening, making it smooth. Lily of the valley brings transparency and coolness, while ylang-ylang lends a barely noticeable creamy density, thanks to which the composition does not fall apart into separate notes. Everything is assembled very carefully, without excess richness.
Especially beautiful is the moment when the top notes begin to settle. Then the green trace of blackcurrant leaf still lingers, while below musk, pale vanilla, and almond are already beginning to emerge. The woody notes here are not about a dry trunk, but rather about a clean, smooth surface on which the berries and flowers remain distinct longer than usual.
Meliora, created by Nathalie Lorson in 2013, is a fragrance about the contrast between juiciness and restraint, between berry brightness and an almost cool cleanliness. It contains femininity without affectation: neither silk nor sugar, but a delicate fabric you want to touch once again.
Stay close to Meliora on the skin to hear how the berries slowly fade into greenery, flowers, and a warm almond whisper.
