Violet

Violet smells powdery, cool, and softly sweet, with the texture of lipstick, sugared petals, and old-fashioned face powder touched by dew. It can tilt floral, cosmetic, green, or candied, sometimes with a faint earthy rootiness behind the bloom. Violet appears in powdery florals, woody florals, vintage bouquets, gourmand-leaning compositions, and some leather perfumes, where it lends softness without losing character. It turns iris more playful and woods more romantic. It is beautiful in Guerlain Insolence, where violet becomes vivid and almost sparkling, and in Frédéric Malle Lipstick Rose, where the note recreates the plush powder and satin glamour of a classic dressing table.
