Amber

Amber in perfumery is not a single raw material but a glowing accord, usually built around labdanum, vanilla, and resins. It smells warm, golden, sweet, balsamic, and softly powdery, like skin after heat, wool, and candlelight. Amber gives body and a slow, enveloping trail; it turns florals deeper and woods more sensual. It appears across oriental or ambery perfumes, gourmands, woody florals, and many winter signatures that want richness without heaviness. Depending on the formula, amber can feel dry and resinous or plush and almost edible. Think of the plush radiance of Prada Amber, or the iconic, rose-soaked warmth of Yves Saint Laurent Opium, where amber glows from beneath like lacquered light.
